HYŌSEN

The Origin

HYŌSEN began in the winter landscape surrounding Aomori City, where deep snow completely reshapes the forest. Frost gathers along every branch, familiar outlines become sculptural, and the ground reflects a spectrum of white, silver, and pale blue.

The collection was inspired by the contrasts found within this landscape: the weight of snow against fine branches, the sharp edges of ice beside soft drifts, and sudden flashes of light across frozen surfaces. Each detail reveals how winter can alter nature without erasing what lies beneath.

HYŌSEN preserves this transformation through jewelry, capturing the forest at the height of winter before snow melts and its shapes disappear.

FROM FROST TO FORM

Each piece is crafted in 18K white gold, selected for its cool color, strength, and ability to hold crisp detail. Its pale luster recalls frost under winter daylight, shifting from a soft glow to a brighter reflection as it moves.

White gold gives permanence to a landscape defined by seasonal change. Snow falls, ice recedes, and the forest gradually returns to color, yet its winter shapes remain within the collection’s curves, intersections, and polished surfaces.

Against the skin, the metal takes on a subtle warmth while retaining its icy brilliance. HYŌSEN carries the visual memory of Aomori through every season: frost-covered branches, layered snow, and winter light translated into lasting pieces of jewelry.

FROM FROST TO FORM

The designs follow the irregular patterns of frost-covered branches. Slender lines cross, separate, and meet again, creating silhouettes guided by nature rather than perfect symmetry. Open spaces recall glimpses of sky between trees, while layered elements echo branches partially concealed beneath snow.

These references are translated through proportion, contour, and surface. The weight of gathered snow becomes a rounded curve; fractured ice becomes a precise edge; reflected daylight becomes polished metal that changes as the piece moves.

Each design is shaped around the body, allowing its lines to follow the wrist, frame the hand, or rest naturally against the skin. The result feels sculptural from a distance and increasingly detailed when viewed up close.
